Year 10

The Key Stage 4 (KS4) curriculum for year 10 students follows the model below:

Core Subjects

 

(5 or 6 GCSEs)

All students must study all of these subjects.

 

Students in the highest sets will study for separate science GCSEs (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). Others will study for the dual award GCSE Science.

English Language (GCSE)

Mathematics (GCSE)

Science (double or triple) (GCSE)

 

Physical Education (core)

Life Studies

Humanities

 

(1 GCSE)

For most students, one of these subjects is compulsory.

 

For some students, humanities are not compulsory. Parents will receive a letter about this. Students may choose them if they wish.

Geography (GCSE)

History (GCSE)

 

Modern Languages

 

(1 GCSE)

For most students, one of these subjects is compulsory. Students must choose a language they have studied in Y7-9.

Two Choices

 

(GCSE

or Technical Award)

Students should continue with the early choices they made in Y8 and have studied in Y9.

 

If parents feel this might not be right for their son / daughter, they should contact Mr Clifton.

 

Students choose one further GCSE or Technical Award to study alongside their other subjects.

 

Students many choose another humanities subject for their further choice if they wish.
