UCAS Process

Higher education is one of the most popular pathways for our sixth form students. On average, approximately 70% of our Year 13 cohort successfully apply and take up their places at a range of Higher Education Institutions, including the Russell Group.

The application process for Higher Education is not something that can be completed quickly, which is why we start students on this journey at the beginning of the Spring term.

We use an online platform, called Unifrog, which allows students to:

  • Start and keep a record of their research into either Higher Education/ Apprenticeships or Studying Abroad
  • Create shortlists which can rank different courses and institutions based on entry requirements
  • Complete some diagnostic testing to identify the right course or career

The timeline for our support is as follows:

Year 12
October – December

Introduce students to the range of Post 18 Pathways

Create an Unifrog account

January – March

Focus on researching courses, creating shortlists and attending any additional events

Start to plan a personal statement

May – July

Register for UCAS

Continue to research courses and entry requirements

Start to draft personal statements
Year 13

October – December

We aim to have processed ALL applications by the end of this term
