Students who are
- in care
- care leavers
- young people receiving Income Support or Universal Credit
- disabled young people receiving Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments in their own right as well as Employment Support Allowance or Universal Credit
are eligible for support from the Major Bursary Fund of approximately £1,200 per year which amounts to around £37.50 per week.
This is aimed at students who need financial help to stay in full time education and is to provide help with the cost of transport, food, equipment or other course related costs. At Woodbridge, pupils are eligible for support from the Minor Bursary Fund if they are in receipt of free school meals. Parents can now apply for Free School Meals here. Alternatively for those parents who do not have access to the internet they can visit the Lynton House One Stop Shop, or telephone the Awards Support Team on 0208 708 3114/3561. Pupils in receipt of the Minor Bursary will receive approximately £25 per week but this is dependent upon the number of pupils who are eligible and the amount of total grant received from the YPLA.
The 16-19 Bursary is dependent upon pupils maintaining excellent attendance, punctuality and behaviour. Students will be expected to meet conditions of 100% attendance in timetabled lessons, late marks will not be acceptable, good behaviour along with a good standard of work, as set out in the 16-19 Bursary Contract, will be expected at all times. Cheque payments will be administered by the Finance Office and are payable directly to the student, fortnightly in arrears, once attendance has been checked.
Students will need to apply directly to Woodbridge High School; information and application forms are available from the Finance Office or by clicking on the link below.
