The Governors are seeking to appoint a School Business and Finance Manager to lead on all aspects of finance and premises administration across the school. The successful candidate will be a member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team and take responsibility for the strategic and operational management of a £15m annual budget, reporting directly to the Headteacher and Governing Body.
The School Business and Finance Manager leads the busy Finance Team, consisting of four colleagues including a Finance Officer. They also manage the Site Team and work with a range of external contractors and stakeholders. They are responsible for ensuring that financial resources are spent appropriately. They ensure that the school complies with all relevant legislation and guidance, including the Schools Financial Value Standard, and that the school remains financially stable. The postholder also leads the school’s lettings programme and is responsible for maximising additional revenue for the school.
The weekly hours for this post can be worked flexibly as agreed with the Headteacher, with some home working possible in this role. There are occasional evening meetings which the postholder would be expected to attend, as well as some commitments in the school holidays.
The successful applicant will have:

A strong financial background

Relevant financial qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 4 or degree level accountancy)

Significant experience of strategic financial management

A commitment to maintaining and securing new revenue opportunities

A willingness to be flexible and work within a busy and fast-paced environment

A commitment to the school’s values and a high level of drive and determination

Ideally, experience of working in a school or local authority setting
