Year 10

From September 2017,  the Key Stage 4 (KS4) curriculum for year 10 students will change to the model below.

 

Core Subjects

 

(5 or 6 GCSEs)

All students must study all of these subjects.

 

Students in the highest sets will study for separate science GCSEs (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). Others will study for the dual award GCSE Science.

English Language (GCSE)

English Literature (GCSE)

Mathematics (GCSE)

Science (double or triple) (GCSE)

 

Physical Education (core)

Life Studies

Humanities

 

(1 GCSE)

For most students, one of these subjects is compulsory.

 

For some students, humanities are not compulsory. Parents will receive a letter about this. Students may choose them if they wish.

Geography (GCSE)

History (GCSE)

 

Modern Languages

 

(1 GCSE)

For most students, one of these subjects is compulsory. Students must choose a language they have studied in Y7-9.

 

For some students, languages are not compulsory. Parents will receive a letter about this. Students may choose them if they wish.

French (GCSE)

Spanish (GCSE)

Early Choice

 

(1 GCSE

or Technical Award)

Students should continue with the early choice they made in Y8 and have studied in Y9.
