Beginners In English

English as an Additional Language

The school monitors and supports the achievement of children with English as an Additional Language, and particularly those who are just beginning to learn English. Many of these students are among our highest achievers. All staff are aware of those who are new to English or who are underachieving because their English fluency is still developing. Mrs Ama Boaten-Rolfe and Mrs Julie Johnstone are Co-ordinators of our Inclusion Department, which include support for those with English as an additional language. The department helps to assess their needs, advises their class teachers and offers direct support to students.
